The best projectors for outdoor events

Until recently outdoor events have traditionally been the domain of LED technology. Projection technology has struggled to provide clear, bright images in environments where there is too much ambient lighting.
However, LED technology does have limitations. It’s heavy, needs to be set-up on a flat stable surface or rigged from truss making it unsuitable for many outdoor environments and applications.
The advantage of using a projector for an outdoor event is that you don’t need a large area to set-up and you have greater flexibility.
Powerful projectors deliver large vibrant images
Whilst using a projector in a daylight environment is still not possible the use of high powered projectors for projecting onto buildings and objects has now become common practice.

Projectors come with a variety of lenses. This allows you to project from a great range of locations and to create larger images. Really, the only limitation is the size of the surface which you are projecting onto.
Extraordinary 3D interactive displays
Projection provides the ability to map structures and buildings using standard but powerful video projectors. Instead of projecting on a normal screen (e.g. to display a PowerPoint), light is mapped onto a surface, turning common objects of any 3D shape into interactive displays.
More formally, projection mapping is “the display of an image on a non-flat or non-white surface”. This projection mapping has been used for advertising, public events, concerts and more.
Outdoor projector hire for events
Need a projector for your next event? We can provide you with a complete projection solution.
At Microhire, we’ve been leading the way in outdoor projector hire for more than 25 years.
How Microhire uses the latest projection technology
Microhire has projected onto some of Melbourne most famous landmarks using our 20k Christie projectors and 20K Panasonic projectors.
Recent projects include: projecting content onto the MCG outer wall during the regular season creating a huge promotional billboard, and projecting an animated display onto the facade of Spencer Street Station.
Using a projector for these projects allowed us to display expanded images at a greater height than LED technology would enable. This provided significantly greater exposure for branding.
Projection was also a more cost effective alternative. Set-up and pack-down was achieved easily and minimal power was required.
Ensure your content makes an impact
Content is important.
At Microhire, we can also assist you with the creation of animated graphics and video production. Playback sources can be programmed on timers and start automatically each night.
Technology has advanced and now you can even control your playback vision remotely allowing you to make updates and add content at any time.
The advantage of outdoor projector hire is you don’t need a large area to set-up and you have greater flexibility.
